Superhero Movie – Hilarious Tom Cruise parody
Carrying on the pitiful tradition of Scary Movie, Epic Movie and others of its ilk, the new spoof of comic book films titled Superhero Movie looks like another typical lowest common denominator comedy.
Long gone are the days of quality satire that came with the films of Mel Brooks (Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie etc) and generally I avoid these modern incantations with the same fervour that Superman avoids kryptonite.
Personal opinion aside however, a new trailer for the film has arrived and it actually gave me a laugh. Sending up Tom Cruise’s infamous Scientology video clip may not be original or cutting edge since an abundant number of parodies can be found on youtube.com. What does elevate this particular byte of humour is the quality of the impersonation on display.
The actor’s faultless imitation is eerily accurate. Capturing every bit of over emotive, artificial passion that the Cruiser is famous for, this is a slice of comedic gold.
Starring Jeffrey Tambour, marion Ross, Christopher Macdonald, Keith David, Leslie Nielsen, Robert Hays and Tracy Morgan. The film is due for release on April 10 in Australia.
Probably the only funny moment in the film, enjoy the Cruise-centric trailer
For those who didn’t catch it the first time, here is Jerry O Connell doing the best work of his career since Stand By Me

I don't care what Cruise does in his spare time, I just wish he would quit acting because he is so bad at it...he would be a perfect TV soap star.
He ruins so many potentially good films. (Eg: Last Samurai). Annoys me that a film like Bryan Singer's Valkrye which really interests me will be rendered unwatchable by his one dimensional portrayal that would be better suited for comedy.
As for the scientology thing, just like any fervent religious extremist he amuses me and the parodies are appropriately hilarious.

There really was a American Captain who fought along side with some fo Japnese traditional samurai warriors.
(Actually the Samuraies still exist today. The Samurai culture still exist amount the higher rank Japanese military official and Japanese police force. The only difference is now they use guns rather then sword.)

However I just saw Epic Movie and it was the least funny movie ever.
A baby could puke something funnier.

But that impression of Cruise was show-stoppingly good.
