Oh what d'ya know. It didn't take long before Tom Cruise did another stupid thing. This time, it's the naming of his new little princess, Suri Cruise.

Reports early yesterday have said that Suri meant 'princess' in Hebrew, or 'red rose' in Persian.

Well doesn't matter now, because Hebrew experts claim that it means neither. Instead, it means a whole lot of other things in different languages.


In Hebrew, it means 'person from Syria' or 'go away'. It's also a Hindi boy name, which means 'pointy nose' in some Indian dialects. And it means 'pickpocket' in Japanese.

Other speculations of the name include Suri Cruise sounding similar to Syracuse, Tom Cruise's birthplace; L. Ron Hubbard's home in England is in Surrey; and also that Sarah's (Abraham's wife) petname is Suri.

There you have it, all the possible meanings of Suri. Now you can take your pick.
