The Evolution of Mario

It's like the classic Virginia Slim ad: "You've come a long way, baby".

Mario from Super Mario Bros. has guided Nintendo faithfully through its long, illustrious history. The success of this year's Nintendo Wii can only ensure that we'll have another generation of Mario-themed games.

Evolution of Mario from Super Mario Bros

This photo, found on GeekStir, illustrates exactly what Virginia Slim was talking about,

Except the line would be better stated:

"You've come a long way, weird Italian plumber with your creepy brother and your stalker-like obsession with a princess that clearly is using the phrase 'kidnapped' as an excuse not to go out with you."

Er... I'm not bitter. But you'd think after rescuing the princess one year, you'd get a break before Nintendo comes up with yet another reason to go into the breach once more.
