Now I’m the first to admit I’m a fan of Quentin Tarantino, but he is not the cinema god many perceive him as. He is however passionate and energetic and it comes through onscreen, he is exceptionally talented at making something old new again.
Today I found a story on variety.com that truly disturbs. Regular columnist Liz Smith reports that the geek idol has turned his sights on remaking one of the great 60’s schlock cinema curios Faster Pussycat Kill Kill.
By itself this sounds right up Quentin’s alley, so what’s the problem you may ask? After all it’s exploitation cinema that involves fast cars, tough chicks and oodles of subversive violence and sexual imagery.
It’s the casting choices that have sent chills down this writers spine. Now its not like this is Oscars material and the parts demand chameleon like abilities but there is a certain strength of character that thrived in the trash strong female leads of the original.
Eva Mendes makes sense. At a stretch virtually untested reality TV face Kim Kardashian may cut it, after all she’s used to being exploited. (read: sex tape) It’s QT’s selection of Britney Spears as a possible third that vexes immensely.

To acting what Uwe Boll is to Directing, you need look no further than her trial by fire Crossroads to see the former pop princess has absolutely zero charisma onscreen. The obvious logistical problems of having the gossip rag target onset each day with swarms of paparazzi snapping would have to effect creative output too.
The biggest gripe I have personally is the selection of Spears would effectively alienate me from ever seeing the finished product, and I’m a huge fan of the original. I would probably prefer too chew on razor blades, while sipping methylated spirits and smoking a stogie with an open flame near a gas main than see BS in a cameo. Let alone a main role.

Originally Directed by censorship breaking Russ Meyer a man renowned for his fetish for female bumps, namely the boobies (appropriate word use in relation to Meyer works) and exploitive themes.
Faster Pussycat Kill Kill tells of three thrill seeking Waitsi Girls, buxom strippers, fast ferocious and wildly out of control. Revving their way across the American plains in a hot rod they end up taking a young girl hostage after killing her boyfriend. Then the promise of hidden loot sees the trio attempt to seduce an old man and his two sons who have crossed their path.
Sexist, mysognistic and deliciously subversive this is unashamedly one of the great Z grade drive in attractions.

Kim is a flake, I've seen the video ... great tits!!!! But she's one of those "cold fish", hardly does much.
