Stephen Chow will direct "The Green Hornet"

Green Hornet Bruce Lee

I quite enjoyed "The Green Hornet", a 60s crime series featuring a masked man, The Green Hornet, and his deadly sidekick, Kato.

Naturally, I loved it because Bruce Lee was Kato, and though it was a TV show, you could almost sense that Lee had the power to literally destroy his opponents, rendering them into tiny pieces of flesh.

Predictably, there's going to be a remake.

Of course! Why not? It was a moderately successful TV show, and all the best remakes have been done already. Time to move onto the B-list.

The production is going to be big-budget, of course, with man-of-the-hour, Seth Rogen, getting first billing as The Green Hornet.

Big news this week, though, as Hong Kong comedy star, Stephen Chow, has been picked to direct the film - and star as Kato.

"In a press release sent out today Columbia Pictures announced Stephen Chow, one of Asia’s most popular box-office draws as the award-winning star and director - “Shaolin Soccer”, “CJ7″ and “Kung Fu Hustle,” will direct and star in “The Green Hornet.” Chow will star as Kato, opposite Seth Rogen who co-wrote the film with Evan Goldberg (also executive produce)."

Chow is pleased to be involved in a project that originally starred Bruce Lee, but I wonder what he'll think when he prepares to meet Rogen, and watches "Superbad" or "Knocked Up".

"Who ARE these clowns?" he'll ask in disbelief.

Stephen Chow as Kato has the potential of epic failure. In fact, this whole Green Hornet remake is a bloody joke if you ask me.

ah-nold, sadly we have no choice but to be forced to witness our childhood memories being resurrected for big box offices.

I have one question...

Why Seth Rogen?

Stephen Chow has talent - but it translate well in Asian cinemas because of his brand of humour. Yes, I'm sure he can pull off a kungfu-kicking sidekick - this guy has charisma... but why Seth Rogen???????

It's a weird combination...
