First Look: Rachel Nichols in G.I Joe
April 20th 2008 03:34
Rachel Nichols is Scarlett
It seemed for a while back in the day every boy owned a GI Joe toy and many a lad got into the cartoon series inspired by said plastic dolls. Now a bigscreen adaptation of the American fighting machine is to be released in 2009 and excitement is building in certain quarters. (This writer is not one)
The latest images to come down that “series of tubes” known as the internet is Rachel Nichols as Shana “Scarlett” O Hara. Rachel has appeared in Alias and Charlie Wilson’s War plus is scheduled to be in the new JJ Abrams Star Trek prequel.
Thanks to joblo.com we have our first pics of Rachel in her role for the film and from a still image point of view it features some enticing curves on display. (The reason for this post is purely aesthetic as you can see)
Directed Stephen Sommers, the hack behind The Mummy, Van Helsing and Deep Rising the impressive cast for the project includes Channing Tatum (Guide to Recognizing your Saints) as Duke. Also on the call sheet is Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Brick) as Cobra, Sienna Miller (Factory Girl) as the Baroness, Ray Park (Darth Maul) as Snake Eyes, Christopher Eccleston (Heroes) as Destro and Dennis Quaid (The Big Easy) as the General Hawk..
I would be lying if I didn’t admit to grooving on the 1985 TV series back when I was a teen. It had that fun empty kind of attraction and it seems the choice of filmmaker for this one is appropriately all about gloss and superficial staging. Will this be a pro-war, propaganda film or giddy entertainment, only time will tell.
Flashback - here is the geek boy opening for the original GI Joe cartoon
