Penelope Cruz takes it off on screen for Ghandi

It seems the web is a buzz about Latino beauty Penelope Cruz getting her gear off again in the new Indie drama Elegy. The reason for the testosterone fuelled hype seems to be that she will be getting all down and dirty with Ghandi himself Ben Kingsley.

Based on the novel by Phillip Roth (The Human Stain), Kingsley plays David Kepesh an introverted professor whose sexual desires are stirred irreparably by the seemingly polite Consuela Castillo (Penelope Cruz). Spiralling into excessive obsession and uncontrolled desire….you know the type, tragedy ensues as Kepesh’s life crumbles around him.
Early reviews indicate that the film is thoughtful and pensive with a leaning towards character ambiguity, so maybe my synopsis above was a little tongue in cheek. Regardless of artistic merits, it seems that most geek boys have latched onto the purported nudity from Cruz and co star Patricia Clarkson (The Station Agent).
Penelope on the Elegy set
Elegy is Directed by accomplished art-house darling Isabel Coixet who helmed a segment in Paris Je T’aime and the award winning My Life Without Me. So its sounds like there will be substance to go with the high brow exploitation, which will probably mean that most 14 year old males will end up fast forwarding through most of the movie to get to their masturbation muse.
Elegy also stars Dennis Hopper, Deborah Harry and Peter Sarsgaard, due for release next week in the U.S there is no Australian date as yet.
