Star Wars: Clone Wars - The Animated movie
Star Wars fans all over the universe are waiting with anticipation for the long awaited animated continuation of the lightsabre slicing goodness of Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter’s Lab, Samurai jack) animated mini-series Star Wars Clone Wars.
Shrouded in all the secrecy usually afforded a visit from the Imperial Emperor today comes exciting news. USAtoday.com is reporting that the first three CG episodes will make their premiere as a big Screen theatrical film.
"I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell…I was eager to start telling some of them through animation." – George Lucas
The original miniseries picked up just after Star Wars: Attack of The Clones and amongst other delights lets us see General Grievous in full flight before he gets that Vader wheeze in Revenge of the Sith. Another treat was learning how light sabres are made.
Now this new saga continues the story of Annakin as a recently knighted Jedi and his master Obi Wan. From U.S.A today:
“In this film, Anakin and Obi-Wan are trying to hold together the galactic republic, split apart by war between a separatist robot army and the good-guy white-armored clones.”
Sadly this is not Directed by the Leone/Kurosawa channelling Tartakovsky instead it is to be helmed by Dave Filon who reveals a minor spoiler (So don’t read on if you want to remain untarnished)…The Spoiler, it turns out is “Anakin has a padawan (or Jedi apprentice) named Ahsoka”.
As a massive fan of the mini series (It could be argued they were superior to any of the live action prequels) the idea of a fully CG cinema event has me refining my Jedi Mind Control in hopes of sneaking into a preview screening.
Here's a "First Look" at the new CG Film.
