Where the Wild Things Are – New Screenshot
Back in August “Hunt Famous” gave you a glimpse of the first shot from the new big screen version of Where the Wild Things Are now a second has arrived, care of slashfilm.com/.
Revealing more of the visual tone that will be seen in the film, a rear shot of the misunderstood beasts hints at greatness. I would class the pictures as a “teaser”, one that has successfully got me amped for more.
The anticipation is excruciating! Scheduled for release in 2008 Maurice Sendak’s beloved child hood memory is being adapted for the big screen. Amazingly the producers have managed to put together a plethora of talent that promise potential brilliance.
Appointed Director Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich) has all the eccentric imagination and cinema technique to inject the correct amount of otherworldly quirk factor. The script has been written by novelist Dave Eggers, a unique wordsmith. His lines for creatures voiced by James Gandolfini (True Romance), Catherine Keener (Living in Oblivion), Forrest Whitaker (Ghost Dog), Catherine O Hara (Waiting for Guffman), Tom Noonan, (Manhunter) unknown Max Records (Cool name) will become the mischievous Max.
For those who never read the book, Where the Wild Things Are is a Children’s Book about a young boy named Max who embarks on a fantastic adventure into the dimension Where The Wild Thing Are.
The Roald Dahl type texture of the original illustrations were endlessly fascinating for this youngster. The story captivated the imagination and the sub text spoke an important message about prejudice, not that it seemed complex as a 9 year old.
Maybe Hollywood will get it right with this one?
