Michelle Rodriguez talks Avatar

Avatar is coming
For those who have been living 1000 fathoms beneath the ocean or on a Space Station Writer/Director James Cameron (Terminator, The Abyss) has been working for several years on an extravagant Science fiction epic titled Avatar.
Rumoured to change the face of modern film making technology, Avatar is being shot on revolutionary new 3D digital cameras that many cinemas are not even equipped to display yet.
Shrouded in all the secrecy of a covert military operation little has come down the pipe in regards to the film since it was announced back in 2005. Finally trickles of information have now come out courtesy of a press conference that one of the films stars Michelle Rodriguez (Girlfight) did for her latest effort Battle in Seattle.
Cinematical.com reports that the sexidelic Rodriguez answered an Avatar related questions at the AFI affair. Obviously nothing major came out but still any new info is the stuff of dreams for geek boys and girls the globe over.
Sneaking in the Avatar question as proceedings came to a close Rodriguez said:
“James Cameron is a sick, sick, director," Rodriguez enthused. In a good way? Rodriguez talked about what a great experience she's had working with the director, who's not made a film since 1997's megahit Titanic. She said that if she could afford to, she'd work with Cameron for free "just to learn from him, to be his apprentice." As to how the film is shaping up, Rodriguez predicts that audiences are going to love it; she noted that it's "work in progress," but added "I think people are going to really welcome this experience with open arms."
See what I mean, no real reveals there. As for the plot of the film imbd.com says: (warning spoilers included)
“In a distant future, humanity discovers the planet 'Alpha Centauri B-4', and for those scientists and astronauts who've traversed the gulf between neighboring suns and arrived on its alien soil know it as 'Pandora'. A world filled with an incredible diversity of beautiful and deadly ammonia-breathing lifeforms. Its also a world that harbors treasures and resources almost beyond price. But just as the original Pandora's Box wrought devastation on those who would use it for their own gain, so too this world may destroy not just the Pandorans home, but ours as well.
Avatar is the story of a wounded ex-marine, thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival.”
The film also stars Alien alumni Sigourney Weaver as well as Giovani Rabisi, Sam Worthington and Wes Studi.
I know I’m not alone in being pumped up for this potential big screen juggernaut and as a fan of Michelle and her ass kicking persona I can only fantasize about whats in store for us once its released in 2009.
For those desperate for more there is supposedly a more in depth look at the production over on moviesaw.com, but I prefer to remain as ignorant as possible until I see it for myself.
Just because I'm a fan, here is a video salute to Michelle Rodriguez

I admire Michelle's screen presence though its a shame that Girlfight is the only worthy film she has done so far. Beautiful and strong, she has charisma to burn.
