Max Payne brings a double barrelled Promise
The 2001 video Game Max Payne was a simple and effective journey into a violent underworld. A tough and true NYPD cop is framed for murder and in trying to solve the mystery of his predicament is hunted by the law, mobsters and hitmen.
Now Mark Wahlberg (Boogie Nights) is starring as Max Payne in a big screen adaptation Directed by the yet to impress John Moore (The Omen remake, Behind Enemy Lines). Talking on the writing duties is Shawn Ryan whose work on the gritty crime dramas The Unit and The Shield offers a ray of hope that this could be half decent.
The movie co stars Mila Kunis (Family Guy, Robot Chicken) as the deadly assassin out for vengeance Mona Sax. Beau Bridges plays BB Hensley. Chris O Donnell crawls out of his cave to play Jason Colvin.
Due for release on October 16 2008 in Australia, the first poster artwork has been revealed this week at the dominant San Diego Comic Book convention. I have to admit these pictures look cool and capture that raw hard edge that made the game such a revolution of it’s time.
Max Payne “There's an army of bodies under this river, criminals reaching up to welcome me as one of their own. It was an easy mistake to make.”
Watch the trailer below and see the sinister atmosphere they are trying for.
