The headline is probably misleading, instead what this clip contains is former Clapton protégé and bluesman John Mayer parodying himself and pretending to be a vacant musician looking for pop glory.
Bought to us by the good people at funnyordie.com this is yet another fine example of how the guys on the site manage to get high profile celebs to lampoon their craft, industry and status.

Tracing a day in the life of making a hit song, we journey with the muso as he shows up at the studio in his hybrid auto and proceeds to exist in his own diva bubble. Hearing only what he wants to hear, treating those around him and underlings and generally conflicting with his clean public image.
