Jeremy Piven gets Put Down

Taking the piss out of Jeremy Piven
Jeremy Piven just picked up his third consecutive Emmy award for the role of Ari Gold, Vincent Chase’s ravenous pit bull agent on Entourage. Verbose and driven by manic energy the character will go down in television history.as the ultimate depiction of a cut throat Hollywood rep.
Making his big screen debut back in 1986’s Lucas, over 20 years in the game has seen Piven lodge numerous memorable portrayals in smaller roles (Singles, Say Anything, Heat, Black Hawk Down, Grosse Point Blank) and co starring vehicles (Smokin’ Aces, The Kingdom, Very Bad Things).
Next up at the cinema will be Guy Ritchie’s crime caper comedy Rock’N’Rolla opposite Gerard Butler. Before that though JP will be treading the boards, returning to his roots in theatre, starring in a revival of David Mamet’s play Speed-The-Plow.
Jeremy says to the N.Y Post-
“We are rehearsing Speed-The-Plow. So I am in the midst of what I consider my Olympics. It is like 8 shows a week, can I rise to the occasion and do David Mamet. And I believe Entourage would not exist without David Mamet.”
A massive opportunity to work on Broadway with one of the best writers working today, obviously he is chuffed. Below you can watch footage of the Emmy Awards after party where a high on life Piven enthusiastically gushes about the privilege of performing in the play. Problem is some big name celebs don’t share his point of view.
Guests instead, choosing to ridicule theatre and question why a successful actor would lower themselves for such paltry pay. After all, “I guess like anyone can do a play, right? That’s what happens in like school”
Jeremy Piven roasted at the Emmy’s after party.
