Iron Man Latest Trailer

Iron Man is coming

Gathering momentum, garnering endless online Buzz it seems not all comic book adaptations are equal. There is a big difference between say Batman Begins and Fanatstic Four or between Sin City and Electra.

Though I may have been sceptical to begin with, each new piece of footage that comes down the pipe for Iron Man seems to stimulate excitement. This week comes the arrival of a new trailer and increased anticipation.

Being a self confessed Iron Man geek boy Director Jon Favareu (Made) looks to have captured the essence of the source material. Metallic skinned havoc with a tongue in cheek attitude and social conscience.

Casting Robert Downey Jnr as Tony Stark is a masterstroke, his sardonic wit and comprehension of a fantasy universe will immediately invest us in the part.

It’s not all gushing from huntfamous though because the thumpin rock soundtrack seems overboard and drowns out some of the exciting visuals. Let’s just hope that in the film the guitar solos are kept to a minimum.

Another negative is the inclusion of Gwyneth “I’m only happy when I pout” Paltrow as the love interest, seriously is there a duller actress working today? Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury promises potential and Jeff Bridges in the Iron Monger guise could also get the pulse racing.

Maybe this will all end in tears but for the time being this writer is marginally excited about this project. Let’s hope that when it’s released in Australia on the May 1st the visual spectacle is matched by the story.

F4, double ugh.
If only because it ruined my impression of what Jessica Alba was capable of (I really enjoyed Dark Angel).

I'm up for another comic book flick though as not having been a big comic book fan I usually go into them with no real expectations.

Besides I'm a Martial Arts fanatic and movies like Elektra and Daredevil got me interested (Daredevil moreso because he's "technically" blind).
