So as Trekkies, Trekkers and space cadets stop the oxygen to their brain on a regular basis with the waves of anxiety triggered from anticipation for the new JJ Abrams Star Trek movie. Finally the first piece of promotional footage arrives and all I can say is what a let down.

I saw this in front of a screening of Cloverfield the other day and sure the voice of Leonard Nimoy doing the whole “Space the Final Frontier” schtick is cool but what else is there really?
We see the Starship Enterprise being built as an epic camera sweep pans up and over, never completely revealing anything as the familiar theme echoes. There are no key cast members to be seen, no dialogue just the familiar theme and a nifty looking update (or is that throwback) Galaxy Class Starship destined to take her maiden voyage.
The new film will tell of the origins of Captain Kirk and his intrepid crew, there first adventure and how they come to work on the finest spaceship ever built. Starring in the role of a James Tiberius Kirk immortalised by William Shatner is Chris Pine. (Smokin Aces, Killing Pablo)
Meet the new Captain Kirk and Bones
Leonard Nimoy returns as Spock and playing his younger self is Zachary Quinto (Heroes). Shaun of the Dead star Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz) will become Ships Engineer Scotty, Zoe Saldana (Avatar) is Nyota Uhura and Karl Urban (Lord of The Rings Two Towers, Return of The King) becomes medical officer Leonard 'Bones' McCoy. John Cho (Harold and Kumar go to White Castle) has been chosen as Sulu and Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov. (But can he say “Nuclear Wessells”?)
The Spock Legacy
Eric Bana is the villain of the piece, Nero and Bruce Greenwood is the original Enterprise commander Pike.
