Celebrity Family Trend: Adoption

Guess who's the new Angelina?

Okay, the answer is fairly obvious.

Ewan McGregor has adopted an orphaned girl from Mongolia, whom he fell in love with (not paedeophiliacly) when he was on a televised global motorbike tour two years ago.

Orphaned kids in the Asian region so have it made these days. It's like it has the cutest puppies in all the dog pounds in the world. Have you seen Mongolian kids? They are unbelievably pitiful and helpless and cute looking that it screams 'ADOPT ME AND LOVE ME'.

I guess Zahara is kinda cute too, but not as cute as Maddox.

what's with all the adoption?

When celebs adopt Asian children, I think of Woody Allen. Creepy...

Wow that's a really ugly photo of him. Good cause though - the damn Chinese one-baby law is so damn restrictive that if a couple have a girl, they're likely to kill her or chuck her away so they can have a boy as their one baby...

Hmm, I wonder if these celebs get little birth certificates like those Cabbage Patch Kids? And speaking of Asia since babies come from cabbage patches would they replace rice paddies as the most grown plant in the region?

Cibbuano: The Woody Allen adoption wasn't technically really an adoption. Soon-Yi was adopted by Mia Farrow prior to her relationship with Woody Allen.

Jimbo:The Chinese doesn't have a law stating that each couple can only have one child. It is more like a policy. There are a number of families in the rural areas in China that do have more than one kid.

Stanley: I don't know. But I suppose the adoption business now is sorta like buying a prized dog. It should come with a certificate of authenticity that you are purchasing a real live orphan.

I hope with all this buzz about celebrities adopting, more and more people decide to adopt a child.

I hope that these children never find out they were used as a tool to gain publicity. I don't think celebrities realize how self centered they look: I feel that this adoption fad is solely self-gratifying.
