There's nothing more heartwarming that seeing the jewel of the Louisiana delta, Britney Spears, grow up and turn into an elegant, graceful young lady.
Except that we live in a Bizarro-world, where she has regressed into the demented spheres of boganism.
These days, the press loves to slice Spears up for everything she does, which, indeed, is bordering on pathetically hilarious. Well, this is the way that Showbiz treats its old stars.
It's almost an American hobby: keeping tabs on faded singers and actors, seeing how far down the tunnel to sheer depravity they can fall before they get stuck.
And though Spears has put on a bit of weight, she's got plenty of headroom to fall a lot further.
