Brian De Palma finds a new Casualty of War
In his latest film Writer/Director Brian De Palma (Scarface, Untouchables, Blow Out, Dressed to Kill) says "hello to his little friend", the Iraq combat zone. Titled Redacted, the film promises a return to form where his trademark excessive style will add substance and perspective to the non linear, free form plot.
According to imdb.com the film is "A montage of stories about U.S. soldiers fighting in the Iraq conflict, focusing on the modern forms of media covering the war.". Much like Oliver Stone's misunderstood Natural Born Killers, it sounds like De Palma will employ the various propaganda formats that assault us every night on news and current affairs shows.
Today on worstpreviews.com they have posted a series of stills from the film and also reveal a few more details about the plot which "Is based on the recent events surrounding the rape and murder of a 14-year old Iraqi girl, and the killing of three of her family members by four US soldiers. The film's narrative will be told using a mixture of video from news broadcasts, documentary footage and trial coverage.".
